We are looking for particular volunteers to work with the interactive
artpiece "Heart Library" by George Khut - http://georgekhut.com/heartlibrary and
http://georgekhut.com/archives/368 at the Gallery throughout November.
The Heart Library Project invites people to spend some time observing and reflecting on interactions between their heart, nervous system and mental/emotional focus via sounds and visuals that respond to subtle changes in heart rhythm.
There's two components to the work. One a bio-feedbackmechanism that projects images
in tone and rate to match a participants heartrate - they can control this by relaxation and
concentration and Two, to quote the artist
"After their interaction with the biofeedback part of the work, participants are invited to share their experience inside this work with other visitors, through the creation of a personalized experience-map
and interview."
George Khut is keen to teach volunteers how to engage with the public through the interview process and experience map and is asking for a fairly substantial time commitment of 5 weeks of afternoon supervision and operation of the work. Currently there is a thought that 2 or 3 people may do a week of afternoons on a rotation basis. All suggestions of interest welcome.
Benefits;
- engaging with the public through a specific artpiece (very useful for curatorial practice)
- meeting artists, organisers and curators associated with the event
- letter of reference from the Australian Network of Art and Technology acknowledging your contribution
- invitation to Artists' reception and dinner on Sunday 22nd November
