Call for Papers:
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS:Friday the 2nd of October
Mobile devices are pervasive and an integral part of social rituals and routines. They are now an ubiquitous presence in both public and private places. This symposium directly addresses contemporary urban experience and welcomes papers that investigate the design potentials, constraints and complexities of our engagement with technology in the urban environment.
This symposium addresses the following topics:
How does our use of mobile technology effect our occupation and engagement with urban space?
How do we design for and within these conditions?
What are the possibilities (design, technological, experiential and cultural) of Hertzian space for designing the spatial and temporal features of urban space?
How does our use of legacy technologies and retrofitting effect our occupation of urban space?
How do personalised infrastructures or mobile devices shift our engagement with urban space?
The symposium is to be held at RMIT, Melbourne, Australia on the 8th-9th of February in 2010.
