Here's a summary of what we covered at the meeting today. I may be remembering some of this incorrectly so feel free to make corrections or clarify the unclarified.
The name: "Pixhibit 2008". A witty combination of pixel and exhibit, everyone at the meeting seemed to like this. If no one has any huge objections, I'll register pixhibit2008.com for our website domain.
The website will contain both group and individual folios. YouTube and flickr will be used to host videos and images respectively. Depending on space, mods will be available as a download alongside demo videos. While the website can contain more student works than the physical exhibition, it will be up to individual students to ensure their work is embedded/linked to their satisfaction.
Hosting: I'll contact the CS dept to see if we can get RMIT to host the website.
Student work: Someone (who?) will be emailing all 3rd year students to ask for submissions of what they would like shown at the physical exhibition and on the website.
Design: The design team are aiming for themes of "networking", "communication through pixels", and "team work". Now that a name has been chosen for the exhibition, they will be working on logos, palettes, etc.
Location for the physical exhibition: We'll all be checking out the VR centre this week in class. Also, the Victorian government offers several locations for approved events.
Date: Tentatively, launch on Friday 21st November, then continuing over the weekend. Website will continue for as long as we can host it.
Funding: There might be a BBQ happening to raise money. Matt and Tom have spoken to the Herald Sun, who need more details on the exhibition before they can promise anything.
Next meeting: 12.30pm next Monday, 25th August.
